Cold Spring Fire Company Junior Firefighter Academy to Host a Parade

On Monday, July 24, 2017, the Cold Spring Fire Company will reach another milestone by hosting its 15th Junior Firefighter Academy. Open to 55 local children, the week-long camp allows children a glimpse into what it’s like to be a firefighter. They receive instruction on the history of the fire service, fire prevention, the science of firefighting, CPR and first aid, the importance of physical training and teamwork among other things. The program, co-sponsored by Philipstown Recreation and run by the Cold Spring Fire Company, is free to all who attend, thanks to generous donations from the community.

To commemorate the Academy’s 15th anniversary, graduates of this year’s academy will march in a parade down Main Street on Friday, July 28, 2017. The parade, which starts at 5:10 p.m., will proceed from High Street, down Main Street, turn onto Fair Street and end at Mayor’s Park.

Please come out and support your fire department and the graduates of the 15th annual Junior Firefighter Academy.
